About Us

We believe that Jesus’ love for this world is the only thing that leads to true transformation in peoples’ lives, so our desire is to live as Jesus did and love the world like Jesus did, being led by the Holy Spirit as we go.

We exist to introduce people to Jesus, and to equip believers with the tools of living out their faith and impacting the world around them with the love of Jesus.

We have a purpose and a vision. Come and find out more by visiting us on Sunday’s at 10.30am, or email contact@sturminsterchristianfellowship.com

Who we are

We are a group of local Christians who believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God and who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.

Sturminster Christian Fellowship is not affiliated to any denomination. All our services are open to any who would like to attend. We welcome you and trust you will be blessed by the Lord.

Beliefs

We trust that the following gives you a flavour of what we, as a Christian church, celebrate, believe, and share:

\

We know the Lord Jesus Christ to be ‘the Son of God’ – wholly divine while also perfect man – Messiah and only ‘Saviour’ of the world: and that only by knowing Him, can people come to know ‘God’ for themselves.

\

If people are to relate to Jesus Christ, we believe that each individual must first:

  • turn away from (repent) their self-centeredness and godlessness (sin);
  • recognise that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary dealt with the sin of all who trust in Him – once for all;
  • accept Christ’s free gift of salvation, so that they can be forgiven and inherit eternal life with Him; and
  • ask Jesus Christ to lead them through the rest of their earthly life.
\

We believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross, then rose from the dead (was resurrected), and is alive today – relating to everyone who accepts Him – and, one day, will come again as Judge and Lord of all.

\

We believe in the ‘Trinity’ of Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who, individually and together, are ‘God’ – each being, in all respects, ‘co-equal’ and ‘co-eternal’.

\

We accept ‘the Bible’ as the inspired Word of God: we submit to its revelation of God, base all our preaching and teaching upon it, and both live out and witness its truth: the faith Jesus taught His apostles.

\

We are seeking to build a strong local church, in which everyone matters, and each person is loved, accepted, cared for, and encouraged to grow in their Christian faith.

\
We know that the Holy Spirit has been sent by Father and Son to point people to Christ – convicting them of sin, revealing the truth about Jesus, and then living in everyone submitting themselves to Him as Lord.
\

We believe that the Holy Spirit’s power and gifts are available to all who have put their trust in Christ, and that His blessings become evident in the lives, and witness, of all Christians.

\

We believe that local churches have a vital role in Christ’s continuing ministry: gathering Christians to hear the Word, praise, worship, and pray together – strengthening individual believers who can share the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ among local communities.

Vision

We accept the Bible as God’s revealed truth and base all our beliefs and practices upon it.

Our vision is for Sturminster Christian Fellowship to be a church that welcomes, accepts and cares for all who come, whether they are seeking God or are already followers of Jesus. We enable Christians to grow in their faith and witness by preaching and studying the Word of God and joining together in praise and worship, prayer and fellowship.

In addition, we aim to reach out to the community around us by providing a safe space for local carers and people with Parkinson’s to meet and by doing what we can to share the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Church History

Where Sturminster Christian Fellowship meets began its life in the 1930’s, when a Gospel Hall was built on the site. This thrived for many years and attracted families who lived in the local area. However, gradually numbers declined and Sturminster Christian Fellowship took over the premises in 2009. Originally a house fellowship (Christian Focus), we were thrilled to be able to carry on the work begun in Sturminster and to develop a place of worship, prayer, fellowship, Bible teaching and witness to the Gospel of Jesus.

In the continuing development of our church, we are now a registered charity and are part of Christians Together in Sturminster.

What do we do

We meet together for worship, Bible teaching and fellowship on Sunday mornings at 10.30am.

We have kept the informal layout we adopted during Covid and we begin our times together with refreshments and an opportunity to chat, with the service itself beginning at 10.45am. We have an open style of worship, with freedom for individual participation within a flexible structure.

As a church, we desire to grow closer to God and to one another.

Why do we exist

We believe that the Gospel of salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is still relevant for today and we desire to spread this ‘Good News’ in our community.

Everyone matters to us and each person who comes is valued and supported. We aim to be like an extended family, where our faith in the Lord Jesus binds us together, and we desire to share the love of Christ with those around us.

Leadership

Chris and Vera are co-Leaders of Sturminster Christian Fellowship. They have a love for the town and a heart for people. You will more than likely meet Chris or Vera if you choose to visit the church, and they will make you feel welcome, valued and accepted. They both have a love for Jesus and a passion for God’s Word.
